Design:

To know that this laptop is for gaming is unbelievable, but Dell has made it possible with its Alienware x14 being the thinnest and most lightweight model. Aesthetically, the model looks very sleek and modern. This 14-inch laptop is easy to carry around and play games at its highest settings without a worry.

The chassis is constructed using CNC-machined aluminum, stainless steel, and magnesium alloy as materials that make the body feel lightweight yet solid. The notebook is compact, but an obtrusion at the back takes up some space. It is probably there for stability purposes; however, you’d need a large bag to carry it.

The design includes many ports, but the best thing is that it allows USB-C charging. So, you can use the USB-C port to charge the laptop with any USB-C charger. The keyboard looks premium with the RGB lighting effect. Also, it integrates hexagonal venting to keep the temperatures under control.

Performance:

The overall performance is excellent, and you can play almost any game at the highest settings. The Cryo-tech cooling solutions of Alienware keep the internals and thermals in check. Though the fans can get loud under pressure, the noise won’t be a problem if you’re wearing a headset.

The specs like RTX 3060 combined with 12th gen core i7 make things smooth and allow you to get a good outcome at the FPS rate. For instance, in Metro Exodus, with the DLSS turned on, you can manage to get a 60 FPS rate with ease.

Coming to the creative work, this laptop isn’t only good enough for gaming, but Adobe Photoshop and video editors and illustrators can also rely on it for excellent performance.

The webcam integrated into x14 isn’t the best, so you won’t enjoy video calling or live streaming from this camera much. However, if you won’t use the camera much, it won’t be a problem then.

Battery life:

Indeed, the USB-C port charging is a big advantage, but at the same time, the battery doesn’t go on for more than 5 hours and 40 minutes. In video playback, it can last about 6 hours and 20 minutes. It might be a bummer for gamers to have to bring their charger everywhere, but, again, you can have any other charger, too, thanks to USB-C port charging.

The Bottom line:

Alienware x14 is an aesthetically appealing piece of machine. From design to its overall performance, it’s a fair trade for gamers to make to get a good gaming time. The specs are great, and the configuration system is easy to access and customizable. But, if you’re someone on a budget, x14 might look too expensive to you.
